In one of my recent workshops I was asked how long it takes for the Law of Attraction to work. Because LOA works differently every time this could be as good as asking ‘how long is a piece of string’? I can however talk about my own experience, in which LOA works very quickly and not always in the ways you would expect.

Owyn was in one of my workshops and his story is a perfect example of the speed of the Law Of Attraction.

Owyn’s Story

Just over seven years ago Owyn decided to start thinking about his retirement home and how he was going to enjoy it. After some consideration he had a clear vision and set about describing it to Dianne, his wife.

This is Owyn’s ‘wish-list’:

• A lakefront property with a sandy beach
• 3 or more acres of land
• A jetty, boat house and boat ramp
• A grassed area with an elevated home
• Located within 1.5 - 2 hours drive from Auckland

You can see this is a very precise list of desires. The only thing Owyn wasn't 100% clear about was the specification and description of the house itself.  Because of this he didn't get exactly what he wanted. Read on and you will discover this isn't a bad thing.

Owyn and his wife regularly visualised the retirement property, twice a week he fell asleep dreaming about his piece of paradise.

Five years after Owyn first set his desires in motion he was inspired to go looking for their retirement home, so together with Dianne they decided to take a trip to the lakes district in the central North Island to investigate the real estate opportunities there.

The first day of the trip passed viewing properties in Thames and Paeroa. They had planned to spend the night in Morrinsville but on the spur of the moment, Owyn decided Cambridge would be a better place to stop. (Listening to your instincts -  ‘hunches’ - is a very important part of the LOA). Owyn and Dianne drove to Cambridge, checked into a hotel room and asked reception to direct them to a local restaurant. What they didn’t notice when they parked near the restaurant was that they had stopped outside the Century 21 office.

After dinner, Owyn had already started the car, when Dianne noticed the properties in the main window of the Century 21 office. She pointed excitedly to a photograph in the bottom corner. “Isn’t that what we’re looking for?” she asked.

They got out of the car to take a closer look. To their astonishment it was an almost exact manifestation of the image they had both been visualising so vividly for the last five years. The minute they returned to their room they called the agent and arranged to meet the following morning at 9am.

As the car crested the hill to Dianne and Owyn’s valley their hearts started to race for what lay in front of them was indeed an almost perfect replication of their vision.

They spent two hours exploring the reality of their dream.  All the components they had imagined were there. The lake and sandy beach. The grasslands. The boat house and jetty. There was only one imperfect aspect. Whilst Owyn had imagined a traditional, older house, the dwelling on the property was modern. All the pieces fell into place when Dianne revealed that a modern house was the house of her dreams, and what she had been visualising for all those years!

Five days later Owyn and Dianne owned their dream. 

As they were signing the paperwork Owyn talked to the seller about how he and Dianne had come to this moment. He shared the story of how the seed of their dreams was sown five years ago when they decided what they wanted, and how they had kept it alive through visualization ever since.

Now for the really spooky stuff.

The seller told Owyn that he started working on the property five years ago. Spoooooky.

The very same year Owyn set his dream in motion the seller purchased the land. For five years, while Owyn and Dianne imagined their dream property at night, the seller was working on creating and developing it during the day!

How long did it take for Owyn and Dianne to find their dream retirement home using the Law of Attraction? 5 years - or instantly? You decide.   

What is the learning in this story?

1. The Law of Attraction starts to work as soon as you set your desires in motion.

2. When it is ready it gives you a sign to take action. Your job is to look out for the signs. In Owyn's case the sign was a hunch. The action was to go for a drive.
